A sophisticated, pared-down style marks the fall season at SPANNER, while bold colours, textures and patterns are the key to its distinct flavour. “The SPANNER fall 2012 collection exemplifies a confident yet relaxed elegance that speaks to a modern woman’s wants and needs,” says Senior Brand Manager, Mara Greaves. “Separates which work together to create a unique look, are as wearable as they are desirable and combine the ease and comfort that defines luxury today. It’s real-life glamour, styled for a diverse, active lifestyle.

Revitalized Classics
“A new take on traditional plaids, checks and tweeds give a fresh look to the collection,” explains Ms. Greaves. Lush surfaces, metallic and satin finishes, boiled and lightweight wools, brocades and bengaline spotlight the focus on fabrication. Geometric prints and patterns, including classic stripes and dots, feature alongside exotic animal skin prints and handcrafted florals. A nod to menswear tailoring is evident in wide and slim leg trousers, cropped jackets and variations on the cardigan. Femininity comes into focus with A-line and pencil skirts, ladylike tie-neckline tops and shape enhancing dresses. On-trend details such as rounded shoulders, studding and zipper embellishment, glam gold accents and touches of rich lace enhance the look.

Newsworthy Knits
Knits often replace traditional wovens, creating a polished but relaxed level of comfort. Mix-it-up design elements characterize sweater coats, cardigans and companion layering pieces in colourful, textured cable, pointelle and novelty patterns. Yarns range from cobwebby, to lofty, to chunky and fabrications include luxe merino wool and mohair blends. High quality jerseys and Ponte di Roma double knits are figure-flattering and travel savvy.

Living Colour
Sumptuous shades of port, teal, chartreuse and deep winterberrys set the tone for fall’s rich colour palette. Primary brights such as red and royal blue accent crisp black and white. Monochromatic greys are a focus neutral and look newest with a pop of fuchsia. Mineral tones of clay and stone are softened with makeup-pretty hues of coral and blush. Warm camel and tan get spiced up with global bazaar pigments such as paprika and marigold. Colour blocking continues to boldly influence with its irreverent retro vibe.

Over the Top
While the cape is fall’s coolest topper, coats in general are large and in charge, shifting into overdrive as statement layering pieces to highlight cold weather wardrobes. Styles in here-I-am, oversize houndstooth as well as ultra-lightweight faux sherpa (accented with the season’s de rigeur faux fur trims) make it tough to select a favourite. Luxe, urban sport styling is identified by parkas with new, flatter profiles, quilting and performance windshirt inspiration. A plaid, toggle-closure blanket coat strikes a charming retro chord.

SPANNER is available in a comprehensive size range; 2-18, XS-XXL, with select styles available in Petites 2-14, PXS-PL and Woman’s 14-24, 1X-3X.
